Description

Just back from my summer holiday and i find this new meme spreading around. Since it's something interesting, why not giving it a try?

Even if it's quite simple, i think some explanations are still needed~

1. Final Fantasy XI - I used to play from 2003 to 2006 and it really influenced me a lot. In that period i drew so many characters inspired by the game, especially mithras (since mine was one of them), and it left in me the love for fantasy characters and settings. I still sketch a large amount of cat-girls, something left from the habit to draw mithras.

2. Akemi Takada - I dont know about the rest of the world, but here in Italy, in 80-90's, Takada's works were quite famous and were aired on children TV. I love very much "Creamy Mami" and "Orange Road", not only because they remind me of my childhood, but also because i really admire Takada's drawing and colouring skills: she gives to all her girls a soft and sweet look, something that is actually missing in modern series.

3. Urusei Yatsura - Even though i gave a 1x2 to Rumiko Takahashi, i had to spent a 3x2 also for this. I followed the serie since i was very young (about 7-8 year old), and this was the very first work that pushed me to draw. Takahashi's abilities are well known to everyone, and i think i was lucky for having "Urusei Yatsura" as my first manga: in this work it is possible to see how Takahashi' skills better and enhance chapter after chapter, and even if i was only a child, i could notice the changes from different volumes. Trying to mimic her awesome style, i started to draw a lot, hoping for even a little improvement in every new picture.

4. CLAMP - These amazing authors are to be collocated in a later period of my life among Takahashi and Takada, since i used to read their mangas in 2002-2005. Their unique style fascinated me a lot while reading some of their most important works like "Card Captor Sakura", "Magic Knight Rayearth" and even "Chobits".

5. Rumiko Tahashi - As i previously said, this author has influenced me since i was a child. I followed almost every of her works, in which i can find those old-school elements that cannot be found in current mangas. My favorites are "Urusei Yatsura", "Ranma ½" and "Maison Ikkoku".

6. Ookami-san - I wrote Ookami-san, but actually i refer to J.C.Staff works, even older ones. I followed a lot of their anime, as "Kare Kano", "Sorcerous Stabber Orphen", "Excel Saga", "Slayers", "Shakugan no Shana", "Toradora!", "Hayate the Combat Butler", "Toaru Majutsu no Index" and currently "Ookami-san". Each series inspired me and made me keep up with my passion for drawing.

7. Bastard!! - A quite famous series that almost everyone have heard about. i've read this irregularly from 2003 (still waiting for new volumes ._.), and at the same time i used to play "Dungeons and Dragons" with a bunch of friends. It's quite admirable for the technique and quality of the drawing, which is something that improved volume after volume.

8. Dragon Ball - Actually i like very much a lot of Toriyama's works ("Dr. Slump" or "Neko Majin" are very hilarious), but Dragon Ball is the one that i followed in my childhood. Now that i'm old enough to notice those kind of things, i appreciate very much the wonderful direction and organization of the boards he draws.

9. Pokémon - Like every child, how couldn't i be in love with those adorable monsters? A love, actually, that's still lasting. I've always found very funny and entertaining drawing pokémons, because it is something completely different and distant from our everyday world: a pokémon is something that cant be directly related to reality, even though some are inspired by animals and things. Not a chance, when i draw a pokémon i dont find myself thinking "oh, i'm drawing a very cute turtle!", instead i think "oh, i'm drawing squirtle!". It's something that makes me escape from reality.

10. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - And i refer both to the anime and the novel. I like very much the style and technique used to realize the anime (both the series), so much that i drew different scenes from it to practice. However, what i found really inspiring is the content of the novel itself. In one word, it is unique. Let me say that, even if i dont read very much, at least i read enough (let's say a book per month), so in my limited knowledge i find this plot something that hardly finds other stories to be compared to.

11. Love Hina - Clear but still impressive, i like Akamatsu' style very much. I try to give the same look of spontaneous innocence together with sensuality to the girls i draw, just as he does with his female characters.

12. Mahojin Guru Guru - Whenever i have to draw something cute and funny, i think about it. Eto has a very comical and funny style, which reminds of chibi even if it isnt, and that goes just perfectly for parodic comics.

13. Ragnarok Online - The second MMORPG that inspired me with the passion for fantasy settings and characters. Because of the lower definition in the game (unlike Final Fantasy XI), Ragnarok allows me use my own fantasy to imagine the differences between the characters.
